“Competition InformationChris, not quite sure which tables you are referring to. If it's the completion closing dates, then that's when each competition closes, entries for each are opened two weeks prior to this. If you go to Competitions on the website it will show you which competition(s) are currently open for entries.Alternatively if you are asking about the league tables in the results section, then the not-very-short answer is that scores are added up for each entry. At the end of the season there are aggregate scores for the PDI, Colour Print and Mono Print competitions and a trophy for each competition. Similar scores are also added in from other competitions to obtain a 'Photographer of the Year' and a 'Competitor of the Year' - for how these are calculated scroll down the web page 'Internal Competions'.How are points earned you may ask? Each entry attracts 15 points, which becomes 16 if Commended, 17 if Highly Commended, 18 for 3rd, 19 for 2nd and 20 for 1st. At the end of the season, the PDI, Colour Print and Mono Print totals are calculated by the website as they have separate rounds (the PDI is already complete for this season). For the other two aggregate trophies (Photographer of the Year and Competitor of the Year) I have to resort to a good 'old-fashioned' Excel spreadsheet.By now you may be thinking "why 15 points for just entering?" Since you've got me started I would agree it seems nonsensical. There is a need for a basic score to encourage entries for competitions and we used to use 1-6 where we now use 15-20. However when we adopted this website layout, the website uses a template format and 1-6 is not an option: apparently 'everyone' uses 15 to 20 as a scoring system but no-one has given me a satisfactory reason why...”
